January 17, 2025: Challenge 1 – use the ENGAGE lesson in your science class.
January 24, 2025: Challenge 2 – use the EXPLORE lesson in your science class.
March 14, 2025: Challenge 3 – use the ELABORATE as a basis for your science project (deliver your presentation and video)
STEM XLR8R Preparation
Teachers must complete the following by January 10, 2025
- Register their class and students in a category and group:
- Categories:
- Health and Wellbeing
- Earth and Environment
- Science and Society
- Groups:
- Elementary (Grade 5 or below)
- 6th graders (Grade 6)
- 7th graders (Grade 7)
- 8th graders (Grade 8)
- High School (Grade 9)
- Categories:
- Create a shared Google Folder (this will be used to share your content).
Registered teachers receive login credentials for Science Bits and Math Bits, providing access to a selection of Science Bits units that correspond to their category. Teachers must review the materials (Engage, Explore, Elaborate) and select the unit(s) they will use in class to develop their project for STEM XLR8R. Don’t forget to fill in the Google Form! The link is the Forum.
In the Forum, Teachers must:
- Briefly introduce themselves, and their class, and their school;
- Describe the objectives of their project;
- Indicate the unit(s) they will use for their class project.
January 17, 2025: Challenge 1 – Use the ENGAGE Lesson in Your Science Class
Teachers use the Engage lesson and in the Forum provide a short review of the class experience, and the students’ responses.
In the Forum, Teachers must:
- Summarize the experience with the Engage lesson.
- Provide images or photos through their shared Google Folder.
January 24, 2025: Challenge 2 – Use the EXPLORE Lesson in Your Science Class
Teachers use the Explore lesson and in the Forum provide a short review of the class experience, and the students’ conclusions.
In the Forum, Teachers must:
- Summarize the experience with the Explore lesson.
- Provide images or photos through their shared Google Folder.
March 14, 2025: Challenge 3 – Use the ELABORATE as a Basis for Your Science Project
The students work on their project, using the Elaborate lesson as a starting point.
In the Forum, Teachers must:
- Submit the Final Presentation (as PPTX or Google Slides + PDF).
- Submit the Presentation Video (as MP4).
